Authorship Criteria

GJFSHN follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines which state that, in order to qualify for authorship of a manuscript, the following criteria should be observed:

  • Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
  • Drafting the work or reviewing it critically for important intellectual content; AND
  • Final approval of the version to be published; AND
  • Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Those who contributed to the work but did not qualify for authorship should be acknowledged in the text. The International Council of Medical Journal Editors provides more specific authoring guidelines (ICMJE).

Any changes to the author list must be accepted by all writers, including those who have been removed. The corresponding author should serve as a liaison between the editor and the other authors, keeping co-authors informed and including them in significant publication decisions. We have the right to seek proof that all writers satisfy the authorship requirements.

Reviewers Recommendation

Authors can propose potential reviewers. Journal editors will look for conflicts of interest before contacting reviewers and will not consider persons with competing interests. Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest. Authors can choose include the names of potential peer reviewers they want to exclude from consideration in the peer review of their work during the initial submission process. The editing team will comply with these requests as long as they do not interfere with the objective and thorough review of the submission.
